A group led by Yerzhan Rakhmetov, an adviser to Peter Foster, President of Air Astana, arrived in Turkestan oblast on a working visit. The guests, who were received by the first deputy head of the region Kairat Nukenov, shared their thoughts on the design of a new airport to be built in the region and the creation of low-cost (financial airline).
According to Berik Abdrakhmanov, a spokesman for Fly Arystan, an airline based at Air Astana, ticket prices are very important for passengers.
- If the negotiations are successful, our planes are ready to carry out air transportation. Our planes are very economical for short-haul travelers. This is because the ticket price will be much cheaper than the market price. If we open an office in Turkestan, we will be able to reach neighboring countries not by Astana, Shymkent, Almaty, but by plane in 1-2 hours, - said Berik Abdrakhmanov.
In turn, the Chairman of the Board of SEC "Turkestan" Aitmuhammed Aldazharov noted that the site for the airport was approved, and the selection took into account the engineering, geological and climatic conditions. The project will be implemented until 2021 in the framework of public-private partnership. Currently, the design work is nearing completion.
Yerzhan Rakhmetov, an adviser to Air Astana's president, said he was ready to send foreign experts to provide design advice. Representatives of the two sides will work together in the future.
It's worth noting that in 2019, Air Astana launched the affordable airline Fly Arystan on behalf of the President. The new airline operates on a low-cost model based on international low-cost carriers Easyjet, Indigo, Cebu Pacific, Air Asia.
