On May 1, 2020, due to the erosion of the lower part of the dam of the Sardoba reservoir on the territory of Uzbekistan, the water mass spilled. Water directed towards Kazakhstan flooded the villages of the Maktaaral district, where a local emergency emerged. As a result, several villages and most of the sown area were flooded.
Due to the large amount of incoming water from the villages, more than 33 thousand inhabitants of the district were evacuated. The injured were evacuated to evacuation centers organized in nearby settlements that are not in danger of flooding. And on the territory of the district, all the necessary special equipment is involved to clean the territory from the arrived water. So, in the Maktaaral district, restoration work continues.
Historically, in difficult times, the people of Kazakhstan are always together, everyone supports each other. And now, the Maktaaralites are faced with difficulties that we can cope with together.
At present, the Corporate Social Development Fund "Turkistan" under the JSC "SEC" Turkestan "is raising funds to help flood victims in Maktaaral district. Assistance is accepted in the form of cash payments, essential goods, food, building materials, etc.
The collected funds will be directed to the needs of the population of the district, as well as to purchase the necessary goods for residents located in the evacuation centers of the district.
The Fund carries out its work by analogy to the mechanism of actions during the events in the city of Arys last year. Then, with the help of the Fund, funds were collected, which were subsequently used for construction and restoration work and for the needs of the affected Arys people.
